Turvey Flood Prevention and Action Group
In light of flooding last Christmas, a number of residents at The Mill have have volunteered to support me and my husband in setting up and running a Turvey flood prevention and action group.
Initial meetings have taken place with the Flood Officers at Bedford Borough Council and representation from Turvey Parish Council, in order to establish some initial activities to get our group established. In the event of flooding, we will need additional volunteers throughout the village to take responsibility for a number of tasks such as alerting residents, distribution of sand bags, supporting more vulnerable members of our community and getting those directly affected to safety.
Whilst not every property is at direct risk from the devastating impact of flooding, this is something which affects everyone in the village in some way and as the Autumn rainfalls approach, we would welcome any volunteers willing to help.
